These two artists came to paint side by side on the island at la Grenouillère during the summer of 1869. They gave birth to master-pieces, icons of Impressionism, giving definition to the movement.
The exhibition shows how the researches of Monet and Renoir became intertwined during that short period, before they went on their own paths with their own specific styles. None of the six paintings they painted have remained in France, but the landscape of the river and the nature they represented is still here.
