An history of yachting in the Ile de France through famous persons
In the mid XIXth century, yachting became popular and attracted the Parisians looking for an escape. For its 19 exhibition, the Association of the Friends of la Grenouillère presents the evolution of this leasure through rowers albums, real comics of the time, unpublished testimonies.
Canoeing also attracted celebrities : Guy de Maupassant, the most famous and the most passionate rower, is the main cahracter of a real photo -reportage, unknown in France, and amongst others personalities: the Emperor Napoléon III, Emile and Alexandrine Zola, and more recently Mistinguett.
